Shirley Cheung
Chiropodist
Shirley has been practicing as a Chiropodist since 1998. She is a member of the College of Chiropodists of Ontario.
Shirley did her clinical training at The Michener Institute of Education, The Anne Johnston Health Station, Rouge Valley Health System –Centenary site, and the Toronto General Hospital.
Shirley has completed post-graduate training in pharmacology at Michener Institute and is certified to prescribe topical medications and some oral antibiotics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs).
After graduating from chiropody, she has gained invaluable experience working in many different clinical environments, such as a family health team, a community health centre, a hospital clinic, and independent private practice.
Shirley has presented lectures and workshops on Diabetes Foot Care, Foot Care in Pregnancy, Screening Methods to Prevent Lower Limb Amputation, Children’s Foot Care and Footwear, Footwear for seniors, Plantar Fasciitis and Footwear, and General Foot Care.
Shirley has a strong interest in diabetic and pediatric foot care, and she continues to update her knowledge of chiropody in order to keep updated with the latest trends and technology available in foot care and translates that knowledge and skill back to her patients. She is a foot specialist and chiropodist who loves her profession and is dedicated to her patients, helping people with painful feet walk pain-free by finding the cause of their problem and correcting it.
Shirley is passionate in helping patients back on their feet by tailoring a management plan for each individual and using her knowledge to educate the community and her patients while staying up to date with the most recent evidence-based research.
As a respected primary healthcare professional, Shirley has the expertise to assess, treat, and manage any foot-related issue. She offers a full range of Chiropody treatments including custom foot orthotics, managing foot pain, sports injuries, diabetic foot complications, warts, ingrown toenails, fungal toenails and calluses.
Shirley enjoys treating patients of all ages, including children, active adults, and the elderly. Healthy feet are important to help maintain an active lifestyle.
In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, camping, hiking, the outdoors, and spending time with her family and dog.
